In what has become a Christmas tradition for me, I have been listening to my favorite suite from my favorite composer: “The Nutcracker” by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. Widely celebrated as one of the most well known ballet scores, The Nutcracker almost didn’t make it beyond its debut. I’ll touch on a bit of the history of the suite and I’ll explain why it is among my favorite arrangements.
